Born in Bethlehem

in Events/Holidays Jesus

Christmas demonstrates prophecy and fulfillment. Listen to today's Bible Minute.

Luke 2:1, Caesar Augustus decides that he wants to have a census taken to tax everybody in the whole land. That means Joseph and Mary have to make their way from Nazareth, all the way to Bethlehem. And Mary is very pregnant at this point. Verse 7, "She brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."

But Micah, 700 years before that, picked exactly the town where this would take place. This is Micah 5:2: "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from ancient times."
