Additional thoughts from today's Back to the Bible program...

May 13, 2008

One of the most unique things about the Bible is how it helps us to understand itself. The Bible often tells us about something that is very mysterious and a few verses later clears it all up by explaining what it means. Our study today is like that.

We're starting the second half of the book of Daniel today. And like the book of Revelation, these chapters leave many people scratching their heads.

But here's a wonderful principle for understanding your Bible: when you encounter something you don't understand, read a little further. Try it, and let us know how it works.

Holy Spirit
I sat at my computer looking at your question. How can I describe the Precious One that is my Beloved Comforter.. the one who guides me...leads me..and brings to my mind all that the Father says..This is the time of Holy Spirit dispensation {cliche word I know}. This is His Time. He is the one that is like the wind. He is the One that Jesus refers to when He says {do not worry about what you say, for the Holy Spirit will give you the very words that you need. One scripture that has kept me back from many foolish ways. "acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your path...those that are led by the Spirit are the children of God..It is a very humbling walk for you must keep a teachable spirit at all times and do not grieve Him. You do this by staying like a child and putting your ideas and thoughts into the toy box and listening at all times to Him

All this week and next week on the radio, I'll be talking about the Holy Spirit. It's a topic that doesn't get taught a lot; and, as a result, there's a lot of wrong thinking out there regarding the Holy Spirit.

Today I talked about being baptized by the Holy Spirit. In plain words, being baptized by the Holy Spirit is the act of putting you and me into the Body of Christ, i.e. the Church. This is something that happens immediately at the moment of your salvation.

I know some people and some denominations disagree with this definition. I encourage you then to navigate over to the Transcripts page and read today's broadcast where I literally quote chapter and verse to show that this isn't my definition of Spirit baptism but God's.

If you've ever felt doubt or uncertainty regarding this, be assured. If you have accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you have been baptized into the Body of Christ.

I have been SO earnestly praying to know more about the Holy Spirit for about a month now. noticed that some people were baptized by water after the Holy Spirit came on them - and some before. I wonder about the individuals that John baptized only for the repentance of sin. I see where at some times the apostles prayed for people to receive the Holy Spirit. I saw where Phillip (NOT an apostle) delivered some people from sickness and demons. I was raised Church of Christ. The Holy Spirit was not talked about very much at all. I am so hungry to understand all I can about the truth of the Holy Spirit.

I think the more I talk to various people the more I realize how much is not understood about God and the Bible. It seems everyone is in such a hurry to get to their next point that they don't spend the time asking the ultimate teacher for His answer. I don't think that God won't answer, I think people won't listen. They would rather rely on what they have always been told by a parent or pastor than take the time to see if God really feels a certain way about a particular circumstance.

You've probably noticed that there are a lot of Christian phrases and words that get used so much that they become cliché. "Born again," is one of those phrases. We all know that Christians are born again and we use that phrase so often I think we've lost the wonder of what those words mean.

So today, instead of saying "born again," let's bring new life to that phrase and say, "regenerated." If you listened to the program today, you'll know that regeneration is a work of the Holy Spirit. You'll also know that "regeneration" refers to the giving of new life to the person who believes in God.

If you are a believer, you've been regenerated--not recharged, not revitalized, but made new. Christian's aren't remade individuals, cobbled together from broken parts, we're new creatures altogether (See 2 Corinthians 5:17). Share with me what thoughts come to mind as you think about being born again--regenerated!

thank you
I din't know how to contact you to say this, so I hope I am not wrong to do this.
I want to thank you for allowing me to
give you these thoughts to your sermons
and approving them. It was something the Lord said to me "when are you going to start abbie". Again thank you for the push an opportunity.
In HIS SERVICE and LOVE

thank you
Getting a more fuller understanding of what regeneration means and that GOD,not I, am the cause makes me more gratful for my salvation. It also brings philippans 2:13 to life. :)

born-again
This is true the term "BORN-AGAIN" is used for everything under the sun but the Holy Spirit had me ask a young man that was going on about it "do you know what born-again means? He looked at me strange and said "no, what do you mean"
He said this in a very sarcastic way, so
I told him the difference of the natural birth {we cannot choose who our
parents will be but we can choose who we want as a spiritual father God or the devil// He had nothing to say this time but he gave his heart to the Lord,
I don't want no devil for my father :)

Do you want to serve the Lord? I know I do, and I think you do too. So, why do we have so much difficulty? Why do we have such a tough time getting into the spirit of service? We want to do it. We know that's why we're born again. I don't think the problem is that we don't want to serve God; I think the problem is there are things that stand in our way.

Here are three things that can help you keep the spirit of service. Be obedient. (To be honest, sometimes I don't want to serve, but then I remember that God called me to.) Seek to bring glory to God's name, not your own. And finally, be joyful. Act with a spirit of praise.

Now, how all this looks in your life is for you to decide. A lot of things happen on a daily basis that make doing any one of those three things hard. But keep at it. There's a world to save, and they need us now more than ever.

wait
For me the hardest thing is when the LORD says "WAIT". We have class rooms to go through with the LORD. And no matter what you do or how many times you plead with the LORD you cannot bypass this one. Waiting is the place you are safe because HE said "WAIT"

creation.. Today's lesson
Hi, my first try at a blog ( whatever that means...lol ) I was listening to Mr. Kroll today, and I liked his idea on the simplicity of accepting the creation account... But like many people my age, brought up with evolution, science, along side creation, it was a struggle to know which account was most accurate, in terms of time, and if evolution had any bearing... The thing that helped me most was a tape by Dr Mark Eastman, based on Romans 1:18-20 titled "the creator and the cosmos". It is the best on the subject I have ever heard..Keep up the good work, and God bless

creation.. Today's lesson
I'm a 26 year old husband and father of two. I enjoy the show and appreciate the Godly morals. God has shown me in the past three years what a complete turn around the power of the Holy Spirit is really capable of. My wife and I separated and I moved in with another woman. My two year old daughter at the time, got caught up in the shuffle of this unstable life that my wife and I created, and went to live with her parents. After three years of being in a on-again, off-again relationship with my wife, and the birth of my son to my wife due to this relationship, God started to work on my heart. I became obedient and listened when He told me that we needed to try again, but this time, make Him the center of the marriage. After a year of counseling we forgave each other and now my son knows his daddy. As for my daughter, my wife's parents,(who always taught my wife to forgive and constantly preached at her growing up), basically disowned her because of the choice she made to be with me. They then put my daughter in the middle of it and refused to let us see her or talk to her. We finally saved enough money and got an attorney. We still battle them in court to this day,but I'm depending on God to work out the situation. I'm trying to stay obedient and listen to His voice so I know how to proceed with this situation. He has blessed us so many other ways I couldn't even begin to explain all of them. I see the difference when you become obedient,or,run off and do whatever you think will make you happy. God,with the salvation of His Son Jesus, is the true meaning of happiness. My wife and I have now been back together three, steady, stable years because of obedience. Thanks. By the way my email is jplowman33@yahoo. Keep up the good work.

Do you know how the world around you is going to know that you belong to Jesus? It's not going to be the fish on your car or the cross around your neck. People will really know that you belong to Jesus when they see a change in your behavior that they cannot explain.

We talked on the program today about the urgent need for evangelism, and this is the way to start: You will attract the world to Jesus when you live a life in which love flows out from you that only God could put in you. You'll attract the world to your Savior when they see a spirit of obedience to Christ that they did not see before.

How important is evangelism in your life? Would any of your neighbors be able to label you a Christian?

thank you
I am completing a ten week bible study tonight (10 keys to unlocking the bible). Several of the ladies were unbelievers at the onset of this study. At our closing study tonight, my key topic was to let them know that now that they know the Savior, they need to tell others. This study this morning was just perfect for me to share with them tonight. Thank you Dr. Kroll for sharing such a clear message on evangelism. I have sat under your teaching before at Word of Life NY and always a blessing.

Why does God offer salvation? Is it so we can live in peace because we know that no matter what happens we're going to heaven? While that may be true, that's not the reason. The bottom line is this: God saved you because there is work for you to do. I think the most miserable people alive are Christians who know they're saved for a reason, but they haven't quite figured out what that reason is.

But you and I don't have to be like that. We're saved to serve the Lord. That's what we're prepared in Christ to do. Don't be one of those Christians who never become involved in the work of the local church. Remember that Ephesians 2:8–10 all go together as a package of salvation. Works don't bring us to salvation, faith does that. But salvation brings us to the works God has prepared us to do for Him.

Have you ever wrestled with the question of "I'm saved, now what"? How has your view on this changed?

Gifts
God saved us because HE LOVES US//I can remember when I was just a baby Christian {I had never read a bible or gone to church}. The people in the churches would ask me, what's your calling or what's your gift. It got to the point of torment for me. I have been with Lord 28 years now and I tell other Christians the harm that LITTLE question can do to some people. My gift is the LOVE of JESUS and my HEAVENLY FATHER. I AM HIS DAUGHTER bottom line. There is a danger of lifting the gifts higher or more important then GOD. Just keep your eyes on God...the gifts and the work He has for you to do is His business. The LORD will let you know in His time.

There's a verse in the Bible that says, "Of making many books there is no end" (Ecclesiastes 12:12, NKJV). Looking over my overflowing bookshelves, I can say a hearty "amen." But the books men make are significantly different from the Book that makes men. What makes the Bible different than all those other books?

I talked on the program today about several things that make the Bible unique. But I think one of the most telling fingerprints of God in the pages of Scriptures is its consistency. This book was written over a span of 1,600 years by more than 40 writers, who differed widely in their occupations and social standings. Yet there is one common theme: the redemption of mankind by God's Son, Jesus Christ.

Try getting 40 people in a room today to agree on one thing! How about you? What has convinced you that the Bible is completely reliable? I'd love to hear.

Prov 1:7 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (NIV). The Bible is thesource for practical living. I have just read where a Harris Poll found that people in the U.S.A. agree that the Bible is the most popular book. Praise the Lord! One can only hope that they are readingit!!

in this life i have had many tribulations and many of them of my own choosing, one way or another. but the almighty God has always seen me through. I don't pretend to understand how or much less why but as I grow in my faith I am beginning to understand that the simplest truth is that the Bible is the answer to any and all questions that we have in our lives. thank you Dr. Kroll

Y should one read the Bible?
GOD has a plan for everyone of us..every creature that crawls on this earth. The Holy Bible is completely reliable.God is a mystery. Can a man judge GOD? Never..but a man can understand what GOD wants of him by walking with him. The Bible assures us with many promises. Our days had been written before we came out of our mother's womb into this world..the Bible says it. It takes a lot of time, sometimes years to know what purpose of us on earth has GOD really had. And the Bible says, God doesn't test us beyond what we cant bear. Prayer is our weapon and Bible is to know God's will in our lives. Because GOD speaks to us in many ways. GOD BLESS!

I am glad to be in JESUS. Before it I did not know about our saviour, LORD JESUS and even talked ill about those who were then christian. Our whole life was miserable, family life was disturbed, and there was no peace in our life. But one day JESUS came to save us. And from that time we are not only in Jesus but we are serving JESUS as he wishes. Jesus has done many miracles in our life. He has saved us from sins, diseases etc. We are giving testimonies about his deeds. I RECOMMEND
all must be in JESUS.

Now here's some really good news for troubled times: We serve a God Who neither slumbers nor sleeps (See Ps. 121:4). It would be terrible if God decided to take a nap just when we needed him most. That would be cause for worry. But since God does not sleep, the converse is also true: We need not worry. We can go to sleep in the evening and never need to worry about the terror by day or the terror by night.

It's important to understand this fact about God when we study His attributes like we did today on the program. If God did sleep, we would have cause for alarm. If God stopped being Just, even for a short time, imagine the chaos that would erupt in the world.

What things in your life do you rely on to be constant? How does knowing this fact about God's character make it easier to draw near to Him?

God can do anything but fail! Sometimes as Christians we pray for something & when the results don't come fast enough we start to fear & the enemy is allowed to lie to us & we tend to listen. But rememeber, a cake doesn't come out of the box ready to eat. You have to mix the ingredients and bake it, let it cool, ice it and then eat it. It takes time and only God knows why He allows the answers to come in the time they do. But we should know that HE DOES ANSWER ALL PRAYERS!!!!

Prayer and Patience
This is something that realy is close to heart for me. I know God loves me and all of us very much. We live our lives sometimes wanting things to happen right now. God knows what our heart desires and will give us abundance with obedience and worship of his word. God never fails. The daily challenges of life can sometimes cause us to grow impatient. I know that patience, prayer, and faith will lead me to victory. It is comforting that God never leaves or forgets us. He is perfect so there is nothing he can't do. I rely on the word and trust to strengthen me and lay all my concerns to God.
