Power Plan for November 2-November 8
Monday: Luke 1:57-80
What did John's birth mean to his parents and the people around them (1:57-60)? What restored Zechariah's voice (1:60-65)?In his prophecy, what does Zechariah say about the Lord (1:68-79)? About his son John (1:76-78)? About the salvation of the Lord (1:68-79)? What do you need to communicate to others from Zechariah's message?
Tuesday: Luke 2:1-21
How do you see God in charge of these events? What do you learn about Joseph and Mary (2:4-7; 16-21)? What promises do you see God fulfill here (2:4-15)? The shepherds react in fear to the angel (2:9); how do they respond to Jesus (2:15-18)? How would you tell this story to someone who's never heard it before? What would you consider the most crucial part? How has Jesus' birth influenced your life?
Wednesday: Luke 2:22-52
What was significant about Jesus' presentation in the Temple (2:22-24)? What promises did the Lord fulfill here (2:25-32)? How does Simeon describe Jesus (2:30-32)? What can you take from Simeon and Anna as you get older? What are the "first words" we hear from Jesus (2:49)? What does Luke 2:40 and 52 tell us about Jesus' growing up? As a spiritual child of God, how do you need to grow?
Thursday: Luke 3:1-38
What is the core of John's message (3:3, 7-9)? What social issues does John address and how (3:10-15)? How did John answer those who thought he was the Messiah (3:15-18)? What happened when Jesus was baptized (3:21-22)? Why is it important to see Jesus' genealogy (3:23-28)? Speaking up for God isn't popular; what happened to John (3:19-20)? How do you speak up for God today?
Friday: Luke 4:1-15
What does the Holy Spirit do for Jesus in this passage? What temptations does the devil throw at Jesus (4:4-10)? How does Jesus counter these attacks (4:4-12)? What do you need to counter temptation in your life?
Saturday: Luke 4:14-30
How does Jesus begin his ministry (4:15-21)? What did this prophecy reveal about Jesus' mission (4:18-19)? How does Jesus respond when people doubt or question who He is (4:23-27)? What similarities do you see between this event and how people react to Jesus today?
Sunday: Luke 4:31-44
What did the demons know that the people didn't (4:34, 41)? What gave Jesus the authority to cast out demons and heal people? What does Jesus say is His purpose (4:43)? How does Simon's mother-in-law respond to Jesus' healing (4:39)? How do you respond when Jesus touches your life?

Monday: Luke 1:57-80
Questions with Answers:
What did John's birth mean to his parents and the people around them (1:57-60)? It was an example of God's mercy, His faithfulness to His promises, reason to rejoice.
What restored Zechariah's voice (1:60-65)? When he named the child as God had told him, he obeyed God's message.
Tuesday: Luke 2:1-21
Questions with Answers:
What do you learn about Joseph and Mary (2:4-7; 16-21)? Joseph is from the line of David; they live in Nazareth in Galilee; they are obedient to the laws of the land; Mary is pregnant.
The shepherds react in fear to the angel (2:9); how do they respond to Jesus (2:15-18)? With a desire to see Him, with joy and wonder, telling others what they've seen.
Wednesday: Luke 2:22-52
Questions with Answers:
What was significant about Jesus' presentation in the Temple (2:22-24)? It showed obedience to God's Law, presented Jesus as "holy to the Lord" even though He was "the Lord".
What promises did the Lord fulfill here (2:25-32)? That Simeon would see the Christ (Messiah), the hope of Israel's salvation, before he died.
How does Simeon describe Jesus (2:30-32)? The Lord's salvation, the light of revelation to the Gentiles, the glory of Israel.
What are the "first words" we hear from Jesus (2:49)? That He needs to be in His Father's house.
Thursday: Luke 3:1-38
Questions with Answers:
What is the core of John's message (3:3, 7-9)? Baptism and repentance for forgiveness of sin, warning of God's judgment on those who rely on their heritage without true faith.
What social issues does John address and how (3:10-15)? Selfishness needs to become generosity, fairness in collecting taxes instead of greed, contentment instead of extortion and misuse of power.
What happened when Jesus was baptized (3:21-22)? The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and God spoke to identify and bless His Son.
Why is it important to see Jesus' genealogy (3:23-28)? It shows that God kept His promises to people like Adam, Abraham, Noah, Jacob, David, etc; also establishes Jesus' connection with David and the throne, and reminds us that He was man as well as God, connected with a human family.
Friday: Luke 4:1-15
Questions with Answers:
What does the Holy Spirit do for Jesus in this passage? He fills, He leads, and He empowers.
What temptations does the devil throw at Jesus (4:4-10)? To use His authority to meet His needs; to gain power over the world by worshiping the devil; to test God's promises regarding His care (angels).
How does Jesus counter these attacks (4:4-12)? With the Word of God; answers lies with truth, even when the devil twists Scripture for his own use.
Saturday: Luke 4:14-30
Questions with Answers:
How does Jesus begin his ministry (4:15-21)? By teaching in the synagogues and opening God's Word to the people.
What did this prophecy reveal about Jesus' mission (4:18-19)? That He came to preach good news, to proclaim liberty and freedom, to reveal the Lord's favor, and that He was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Sunday: Luke 4:31-44
Questions with Answers:
What did the demons know that the people didn't (4:34, 41)? They could identify Him as the Son of God.
What gave Jesus the authority to cast out demons and heal people? The fact that He was the Son of God, He had the Holy Spirit and ultimate authority as God.
What does Jesus say is His purpose (4:43)? To preach the good news of the kingdom of God.
