"From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God." Ezekiel 39:22
As I write this, there is a blue band on my left wrist. I got it while working at our church's Vacation Bible School. On one part of the band it says, "The Bible Chapel." But I have kept wearing the band because on another part are the words, "Watch for God."
Those words are a reminder to me that God is at work all around me. From the striking sunrise to the soothing sunset ... God is there. From the cloudless blue sky to the dark clouds filled with booming thunder and sheets of rain ... God is there. God was even there in the 110 degree heat I experienced while visiting family in Oklahoma. He is there laughing in my joys and soothing me in my pain. He is there in every accomplishment and disappointment. He is there in those times when I feel I "pulled it off." And He is there when I fall hard. My problem is that I forget to watch for God and acknowledge His constant presence.
One day soon, I'll take off the wrist band. In fact, even now the letters are starting to wear away. But I don't want to forget its reminder. I want to spend my life watching for God. I want to see His endless activity around me and through me. And I want to celebrate His work with Him. I want to be reminded throughout my day that He is the LORD my God.
Father, Your activity in us and around us never ceases. Help us see You, acknowledge You, and celebrate life with You. May we be those who are always watching for You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
