Devotions, Tips, and Activities

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

2 CORINTHIANS 6:18

Family Quest

Dig through an album and find some pictures of you and your child the day you brought him home from the hospital. Point to yourself in the picture. Talk about how proud you look and how happy and proud you still are to have him as your son.

Talk It Out

· In what ways is God like your father?

· How does God make you part of His family? (Read John 1:12)

· How does knowing you’re part of God’s family make your life better?

Parent-Child Connection

Kids have a limited view of what it means to be a family. If you ask them to explain what a family is, they will most likely describe their own. Some may include the family of a friend or neighbor. But they don’t know the complexities that influence the structures of families in different cultures. So it’s important to remember your child’s perspective when explaining that we are a part of God’s family. They can’t help but relate it to their own understanding of family.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
