Family Quest
Before today’s lesson, gather information about King Solomon. Take a few minutes to tell his story: how he got so smart, as well as what he accomplished in life. Next, engage your child in an amazing truth: God is all-wise!
Talk It Out
· The Bible tells us that God knows all things. This means He is wiser than even Solomon. God is all-wise. Being wise includes being smart, but it also includes knowing what’s right and doing it. Share about a time when you knew what was right and did it.
· Where does real wisdom come from?
· How does God make us wise?
Parent-Child Connection
Kids are very familiar with the concept of “right and wrong.” And they usually have a good grasp on the concept of consequences for their actions. But “wisdom” is a little tricky. It is a more abstract idea that some younger kids may struggle to understand. Tell your kids a story from your own life or a story about a friend to help them see that wisdom is needed in everyday life. A few good examples may help them to see the difference between being smart and being wise.
Talk to God
As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so wise and (2) ask Him to help us to be wise.
