Family Quest
Ask your children to write a definition of the word benevolent and some words that are similar. Now look it up to find the actual meaning. Once you have discussed what the word means, plan with your children to undertake an act of benevolence.
Talk It Out
· How close did you come to knowing what benevolent means?
· Think about the stories you’ve heard about Jesus. Which one best shows Him as benevolent? Why?
· What can you do if you are afraid that your needs won’t be met?
Parent-Child Connection
Giving a tithe to your local church is a good example of how God provides for us. He supplies us with all we need and only asks for 10 percent back. With this 10 percent He provides for the mission of your church as it ministers to many people throughout the week. We are an important part of God’s plan and mission. By trusting Him to provide for us, we are free to help others and support the overall mission.
Talk to God
As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for providing for his needs as well as the family’s needs, and (2) ask the Lord to help everyone in the family to respond in a benevolent way to the needs around them.
