“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

MATTHEW 11:29

Family Quest

Close your eyes and have your child describe God. Encourage him to explain God’s looks, His voice, His face, His actions, etc. Now have your child describe what it would be like to meet God.

Talk It Out

· How would you describe God?

· Do you ever picture Him as gentle?

· When is God powerful? When is He gentle?

Parent-Child Connection

As you use this devotional guide with your child, you will be talking a lot about the character of God. Be careful in your conversations that your child doesn’t become scared of God. We should be very respectful of Him, but He does not want us to be fearful. Understanding that God is gentle is significant as your child develops his own image of God.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for loving us and (2) ask the Lord for help and peace in times of turmoil.
