God: The Object of His Attention

Published 2/7/20

Read Psalm 139:1-6

"God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I'm an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I'm thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I'm never out of your sight. You know everything I'm going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you're there, then up ahead and you're there, too--your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful--I can't take it all in!" (The Message)

Reflect

How does it make you feel knowing that God is with you always--everywhere you go?

Do you feel that God has ignored you or is too busy to care about the pain in your life? The truth is "God sees you as much as if there were nobody else in the world for Him to look at," said Charles Spurgeon. "If I have as many people as there are here to look at, of course my attention must be divided. But the infinite mind of God is able to grasp a million objects at once and yet to focus as much on one as if there were nothing else but that one. . . . God sees you with all His eyes, with the whole of His sight--you--you--You--YOU! are the particular object of His attention at this very moment."

Whether we feel like it or not, we are an open book to God, and He knows our every thought (sometimes that can be scary!). He counts the number of hairs on our head. And there is no place we can go to avoid His Spirit or be out of His sight. If we climb to the sky, He's there. If we go underground, He's there. If we could fly on morning's wings to the farthest horizon, He is already there waiting! We are never out of his sight (Psalm 139, MSG)

Pray

Lord, help me to know You better. Help me to move closer to You today than yesterday. Amen.
