By: Michael and Tiffany Ross

God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

1 TIMOTHY 6:15–16

Family Quest

Ask your child what happens all around her in nature in the spring. How does nature change in the summer? What about autumn? How do the trees and flowers change in winter? Now focus your talk on a nearby evergreen. How does it change? Explain that evergreens are not immortal and do change somewhat, but because they are always green, they give us an idea of what immortal means: unchanging, lasting.

Talk It Out

· Jesus is immortal—that means He’ll never die. Can you think of anything that will never die?

· Why is it important that Jesus is immortal?

· Will we be immortal like Jesus when we get to heaven? Explain.

Parent-Child Connection

Immortality is a common theme in movies and television shows. It seems that every superhero is immortal as long as they stay away from their one weakness. Kids will tend

to think of God in this way. But He is way more than that. He is the only real immortal being. Help your kids to understand that there is a difference between our very real God and fictional characters.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus that He will live forever and (2) ask the Lord to help her never forget that God created her to live forever in heaven with God.
