Family Quest
Have your child create a short skit. He needs to come up with characters, location, props, and dialogue. Then it’s up to you to act out every word and action under his direction. Now compare the role of the creator of the skit to God who created us. As our Creator, He is also our director.

Parent-Child Connection
As Christians, we believe that Jesus is the ruler and guide of our lives, so we refer to Him as our Lord. In other words, we do our best to submit wholly to Him and to obey His commandments in the Bible, as well as the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Here’s how you can explain this concept to a child: Point out that we view Jesus as our absolute authority and so we must obey Him the same way that a child must obey his parents. Yet Christ is the authority of our lives because He is the author of existence. He isn’t just our boss or our master; He is our maker. The Bible tells us that the Son of God created all things and that in Him all things are held together (Nehemiah 9:6; Colossians 1:17). Grasping this truth will change the way your family will see His commandments and His teachings. Christ’s decrees are much more than the law of the land; they represent the laws of physics.1 If they tell us how to act, it’s because they first tell us how things are designed to work.2 Jesus Himself is truth, and for this reason, trusting His lordship is the only way to experience life as it really is and should be. In Him “we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
Talk to God
As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being Lord of all who believe in Him and (2) tell the Lord how sorry he is for sometimes doing things that disappoint God.
