101 Ways to Strengthen the Parent‐Child Connection

Devotions, Tips, and Activities

By Michael and Tiffany Ross

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Deuteronomy 32:4

Family Quest

Gather some rocks from your yard. Examine them together and discuss their characteristics.

Talk It Out

· What are some things that are made of rock? (Mountains, statues, pyramids.)

· How long do you think it would take for a rock to change?

· How can God be your rock?

· Does this change your image of God?

Parent-Child Connection

Emphasize the importance of building our lives on the solid rock of Christ’s teachings in the Bible. Read the parable about the wise and foolish builders: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash” (Matthew 7:24–27).

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) praise God that He is perfect and strong, and (2) thank Jesus for His faithfulness.
