For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Hebrews 13:14, NIV
Stepping on shore, and finding it Heaven!
Of taking hold of a hand, and finding it God's hand.
Of breathing a new air, and finding it celestial air.
Of feeling invigorated, and finding it immortality.
Of passing from storm to tempest to an unbroken calm.
Of waking up, and finding it Home.
We are free to follow a life-path that will lead us to His eternal kingdom (a city that promises to be far greater than Eden). . .or we can remain in the thorns. We can choose life by the spirit and work into our hearts the qualities of God: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Or we can choose to act on our sinful nature and allow ourselves to degenerate with cravings of the flesh: sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness. (See also Galatians 5:16-26).
Heaven is our future home. So in this life, let's choose the path that leads to eternity with God, and let's help others find it, too.
