Devotions, Tips, and Activities

By: Michael and Tiffany Ross

Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

HEBREWS 2:18

Family Quest

Tell a story from your childhood about being tempted to do something bad. Make it simple so a young child can relate to it. Then explain how each person is tempted in life. Adults and children are often faced with difficult decisions. Temptation is something we all share. Even Jesus was tempted.

Talk It Out

· Does God get upset with us when we are tempted?

· What’s the difference between being tempted and making a wrong decision?

· Why do you think Jesus was tempted?

· Do you think He understands what we are thinking when we are faced with temptation?

Parent-Child Connection

A lot of people feel guilty when they face temptation. But freedom comes with the realization that we all are tempted. We run into problems when we give in to temptation. Letting your child know that temptation is a normal part of life will help him better face tough decisions.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
