Read Hebrews 1:1-4
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Prayer is a miracle, and the sooner we embrace this truth, the sooner prayer ceases to be a dull routine or a religious burden. According to the late author and radio Bible teacher Warren W. Wiersbe, "Prayer is an exciting adventure that molds our lives and the lives of those for whom we pray." If prayer is a neglected or ignored discipline in our life, then it's time we attempted to measure this miracle and discover what we are missing.
Pondering and praying through today's Scripture passage is a good place to begin. Hebrews 1:3 says that "Jesus is the radiance" of God's glory and the "exact representation of his nature." Jesus said, "If you've seen me, you've seen the Father." What is God's character like? It's like Jesus. It's a forgiving father embracing his prodigal son. It's not the wonder of the heavens that the Old Testament mentions, it's the wonder of His love.
Spend time talking to Jesus about this miracle. As you pray, acknowledge God, worshiping Him and focusing on who His is. Then move into sharing petitions and interceding for others. Author R.T. Kendall explains that "this pattern is designed to show that we are not to rush into the presence of God, snap our fingers toward heaven and expect the angels to jump!" The goal is to regain the wonder, not just of prayer--but of the One who hears our prayers.
