Joy

Published 8/8/19

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.

Family Quest

Draw three large circles. List things that bring you joy in the left circle and things that give you peace in the one on the right. Fill the middle circle with words that fit both categories.

Talk It Out

· What does joy mean? How is it different from peace?

· How is having joy in your heart different from feeling happy?

· Do you think you can get this joy and hope anywhere other than God?

Parent-Child Connection

The exercise above is probably very familiar to most elementary-age kids. It is used in most classrooms to help children identify the different elements of a story and distinguish how they are connected to one another. Hopefully, God and the things of God will be listed in your middle circle. Help your child see how God brings both peace and joy through His many blessings.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
