A Home in Heaven

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Family Quest

Find a quiet and cozy place to be still. Have everyone close their eyes and picture their favorite place. Take a little imaginary trip as you pretend that you have been away on a long journey. Then describe how you felt when you finally returned to your favorite place. Talk about your excitement, joy, relief, and peace when you arrived. Then have your children do the same.

Talk It Out

· Is it possible to get excited about a place you have never been before? Like heaven?

· Who gets to go to heaven? Will your family and friends be there?

· What are some wrong ideas the world has about heaven? How does this compare to how the Bible describes it?

· How does your view of heaven change the way you live? Do you daydream about it? Do you get excited about spending your future there?

Parent-Child Connection

It’s hard to get excited about heaven if you don’t know anything about it. Movies and television shows sometimes offer a warped view of who will be in heaven and what it will be like once you are there. Take some time to read about heaven in the Bible. Help your child to discern the difference between the truth (the Bible) and someone’s fantasy of heaven. This will help her get excited about her future.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
