Family Quest
Go shopping with your child. Together, pick out items that you can give to a homeless shelter or donate to a church food drive: socks, undergarments, canned foods, toiletries, etc. Go together as you hand over these items to the charity of your choice.
Talk It Out
· The Bible tells us that we are “God’s workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus to do good works.” How is giving things to those in need a good work?
· What are some other things God wants us to do for Him and for others?
· The Lord gives us all a purpose to fulfill during our lives. What does this mean? Why is it important to live for His purpose—and not our own?
Parent-Child Connection
Most kids know that it is honorable to do good deeds. But kids also need to know that God created us to live together in community. Helping each other out is built into who we were created to be. We all have talents that can be used for God’s glory. Somewhere right now someone is praying to God for a little extra help. You can be the person who is their answer to prayer. Your talent may be what is needed. Or maybe the donation of some of your possessions can change someone’s life. Create an environment of giving as you model compassion and caring.
Talk to God
As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
