Devotions, Tips, and Activities

By: Michael and Tiffany Ross

“I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD Almighty.

Malachi 3:6–7

Family Quest

Take a walk with your child. Notice the things that change often and the things that don’t change or seldom change. Keep track of each type and see whether you find more things that change or more things that don’t change.

Talk It Out

· What does Malachi 3:6–7 tell us about God?

· If God never changes, what does that tell you about how God will respond to you? Your family?

· How does the unchangeableness of God make you feel?

Parent-Child Connection

Help your child to connect God with her world. It’s great if a flower reminds her of God creating our world. It’s wonderful if the changing of the seasons helps her to understand that there are seasons in life. A mountain can be a reminder that God is our solid rock. The more ways you can help your child connect God with her world, the more she will begin to see that God is a part of her everyday life.

Talk to God

As you pray, encourage your child to (1) thank Jesus for being so big and mighty and (2) ask the Lord to help him appreciate what He has done for him.
