READ
1 John 1:1-2
1 We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. 2 This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.
The apostle John was an eye-witness of Jesus from His baptism by John the Baptist until He ascended into heaven after His resurrection. The apostle tells his readers he is proclaiming this one who is eternal life. When Jesus took on human flesh, it is called His “incarnation.” He was with the heavenly Father before He was revealed to the apostles and others.
REFLECT
Imagine how special it was for John to be an eyewitness of the earthly life of the Lord Jesus Christ. John was an eyewitness, but you have the next best advantage; you can read the report of eyewitnesses in the New Testament.
RESPOND
If you have been a believer for at least a year and have been attending a Bible-teaching church, you should be sharing what you know with others younger in the faith. Ask God to indicate someone with whom you could connect in this regard. You can use these comments in 1 John to begin your discussion.
