READ
1 John 1:3-4
3 We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.
The apostle John wanted to share with others what he had seen and heard concerning Jesus. Notice his reason for doing so: so they might have fellowship with him and the other eyewitnesses. The heart of this fellowship is with the heavenly Father and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. John was sharing these truths so that readers could share in the joy.
REFLECT
Think about the most precious fellowship you can have is to be rightly connected with the Father and the Son. This includes first knowing Jesus as Savior and then spending time in the Bible, the written word of God.
RESPOND
Have you chosen someone to mentor yet? When you get together you can talk about many things you have in common. “Christian fellowship”; however, is talking about what you have in common knowing Jesus Christ as Savior and what the Scriptures say about Him. Tell your friend what this has meant to you.
