READ
1 John 1:7-8
7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.
How does one tell he or she is living in the light? It is evidenced by having fellowship with other believers who have experienced that Jesus’ blood has cleansed from all sin. Jesus was perfect, but no one else is perfect so claiming one is perfect is lying. When one trusts in Jesus as Savior, the penalty of sin has been paid by Jesus. But what about those sins committed after trusting in Jesus? The following verses will tell you.
REFLECT
Think how wonderful it is that by trusting in Jesus as Savior, the penalty for your sin has been paid by Him. You can rejoice that there is no condemnation for the one who has believed in Jesus.
RESPOND
With your friend, read passages such as John 3:16-18; Romans 5:1 and 8:1. Join in thanking God that by believing in Jesus as Savior you have been delivered from all condemnation.
