READ
1 John 5:17
17 All wicked actions are sin, but not every sin leads to death.
The apostle John emphasized that all wrongdoing or “wicked actions” are sin. Every Christ-follower should want to avoid such behavior. The last part of the verse refers to what John had just written about some sins leading to physical death. In the case of Moses and Aaron in Numbers 20:8-12, they did not treat God as holy before the people. This kept them from leading the people of Israel into the Promised Land.
REFLECT
When others watch your life do they sense you serve a holy God? Or do you do and say things that cause others to think you do not believe you are accountable to a holy God?
RESPOND
With your disciple talk about the importance of living before others so they realize you serve a holy God. Others will make judgments about this as they listen to your speech and watch your behavior.
