READ
1 John 3:1
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
It is special for believers to be called God’s children. It takes a believer to recognize a believer, however, because those of this world who do not know God do not recognize His children. It cannot be expected that those who do not know God would recognize His children. Those in the family of God have a common bond that draws them together.
REFLECT
Think of times when you have unexpectedly met another believer. What indicated to you that the person was a child of God?
RESPOND
Read some Scriptures about being children of God. See John 1:11-13; Romans 9:7-8; Philippians 2:14-16. Talk about these passages with your friend.
