READ
1 John 3:2-3
2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
This passage provides motivation for living the Christian life. Believers in Christ live with many imperfections while on earth but someday they will be like Jesus. This does not mean they will look like Him but that they will have the same moral qualities He has. He is perfect, and someday believers in heaven will have that same kind of perfection. This should motivate every believer to honor Jesus now the best that can be done.
REFLECT
It’s hard to imagine what it eventually will be like when believers meet Jesus face to face. It is not something to be completely understood now but simply to be believed.
RESPOND
Visit with your friend about being like Jesus. Read passages such as 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 and Colossians 3:9-11. Are both of you living pleasing to the Lord today?
