1 John – Week 7 – Day 2

READ 

1 John 4:5-6 

5 Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them. 6 But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception. 

Those who belong to the world system do not know the Lord Jesus as Savior. They refuse to listen to and understand believers in Jesus. How does one know whether others are of the world system or of the family of God? It has to do with whether or not they listen to what is taught from the Bible, the Word of God. The Bible is the only authoritative source to learn about God and what He has done for mankind.  

REFLECT 

Have you noticed a different response to biblical truth when talking to believers and unbelievers? This passage is saying you would find this to be true. 

RESPOND 

Share with your friend that neither of you should be surprised when unbelievers don’t respond favorably when you are talking about spiritual truths. Read 2 Corinthians 4:4 to see the reason for this.
