1 John – Week 8 – Day 1

READ 

1 John 4:13-15 

13 And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. 14 Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. 

What evidence do you have you are a child of God? This verse tells you. When you trust Jesus as Savior the Holy Spirit is given to you. John tells us one of the main reasons for the heavenly Father sending His only Son was so He could be the Savior of the world. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, which means He is equal with God, you have eternal life.  

REFLECT  

Think about when the Bible says that Jesus is Lord, it is the same as saying He is God. If He were not God, His death could not have benefitted all mankind; if He were not fully man He could not have died on the cross. 

RESPOND 

Read Romans 8:9 to see the Holy Spirit is in each believer’s life. Read Romans 10:9 to see that Jesus is Lord and has been raised from the dead. If you believe this you are a Christ-follower. Read also John 5:16-18 to see the Jews clearly understood that Jesus was making Himself equal with God by referring to Him as Father.
