1 John – Week 8 – Day 2

READ 

1 John 4:16-17 

16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 

God has shown how much He loves us by giving His Son to die for us. As we trust in Jesus as Savior the love of God will be seen in our lives. In this way God’s love reaches its goal. When we realize how much God loves us there will be no reason to fear facing Him when we die. Being grateful of what God has done for us should motivate us to “live like Jesus here in this world.” 

REFLECT 

Is your trust in Jesus as Savior? If so, are you living with Jesus as your example? Doing so will give you no reason to fear when you face God in eternity. 

RESPOND 

Perhaps your disciple friend is uncertain about facing God eventually. Read together John 3:18, Romans 5:1 and 8:1 to see that each person who has trusted in Jesus for salvation is delivered from all condemnation. There is nothing to fear.
