READ
1 John 5:14-15
14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
Believers can be assured that God will grant answers to their prayers if they pray for that which pleases Him. It is common for many Christ-followers to conclude their prayers with the expression, “In Jesus’ name, Amen.” This should not be treated as a formula for getting what has been asked in prayer. It is similar to saying one is praying for what is in the will of God because of what Jesus has accomplished by His authority.
REFLECT
Think about why you should expect answers to your prayers. Is it because of some phrase you use or because of what God desires to do? As in a parent and child relationship, God is pleased to be asked to do what He is pleased to do.
RESPOND
With your friend read 2 Peter 3:9 that tells you what is God’s will. You can be assured that when you are praying for someone in this realm God wishes to answer.
