READ
1 John 5:3-5
3 Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. 5 And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
John points out that those who love God do what pleases Him. And instructions for what honors Him are found in the Bible. Plus, His commandments are for our good, not to punish us or keep us from enjoying life. Believers who love the Lord and follow His instructions in the Bible will have victorious Christian lives. Only those who believe in Jesus can win this battle against the world.
REFLECT
Is it your desire to live as God instructs in the Bible? There are New Testament passages that tell believers how to live. Are you engaged in the Bible regularly to learn of these instructions?
RESPOND
With your friend read Ephesians 4:28-32 and Colossians 3:1-11 to see some instructions for believers to follow. Talk with your disciple about these instructions inspired by God through the apostle Paul.
