READ
1 Thessalonians 1:8-9
8 And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Achaia, for wherever we go we find people telling us about your faith in God. We don’t need to tell them about it, 9 for they keep talking about the wonderful welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God.
Paul was pleased to let the Thessalonian believers know that the testimony of their faith was going beyond Greece. Others were not talking about their physical possessions but about their spiritual possessions. All of this because these believers had welcomed Paul’s message. They had turned from dead and false gods to the living and true God.
REFLECT
What do you want others to say about you? Do you want them to know about your earthly possessions or your devotion to the true and living God?
RESPOND
With your friend, read 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 to be reminded of what is truly important in this life. There are many troubles here on earth, but they cannot be compared to what will follow for believers in Jesus.
