READ
1 Thessalonians 1:10
10 And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven—Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.
Paul told how the testimony of the believers in Thessalonica was being talked about even by those outside of Greece. Here he mentioned what these believers were looking forward to—the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The resurrected Christ is viewed as the one who had rescued them from the judgment to come. Much will be said in 1 Thessalonians about future expectations for believers.
REFLECT
Are you looking forward to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ? This is the heart of what the Bible refers to as “the blessed hope.” Make this your hope also.
RESPOND
With your friend, read Titus 2:12-14 that tells about the blessed hope. Talk about what Jesus’ return should mean to each of you.
