READ
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
3 God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. 4 Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— 5 not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.
Not many specifics are given in the Bible about God’s will, but this passage gives one. He wants believers to stay away from sexual sin. The word “body” is literally “vessel.” Some believe this refers to the man’s wife. 1 Peter 3:7 indicates if a husband does not treat his wife as he should his prayers will not be answered.
REFLECT
Think of the importance of this verse about honoring God by staying away from all sexual sin. This refers to sex outside of marriage. The Bible provides no exceptions.
RESPOND
With your friend, read 1 Peter 3:7-8 to see what the apostle Peter said about how believers are to live. May you follow these instructions that include more than marriage.
