READ
1 Thessalonians 4:6-8
6 Never harm or cheat a fellow believer in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. 7 God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. 8 Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
Paul made it clear that believers should avoid having an impure life. Even the Ten Commandments said one was not to take another’s wife or his life. Those who violate Paul’s instructions are actually rejecting God. As an apostle, he was speaking by divine revelation. Human reasoning may say something different, but the believer in Jesus has the Holy Spirit living within to teach him or her to obey God’s instructions.
REFLECT
Are you engaged in the Bible at least four times a week to see the instructions about proper teaching and how to live the Christian life? Let others see the characteristics of Jesus exposed through your life by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
RESPOND
Read Colossians 1:26-28 to see a mystery (not previously revealed) that Jesus is in every believer. May others see Christ in you.
