READ
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
11 Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. 12 Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.
Paul was about to address the coming of Christ to catch up believers from the earth. Perhaps some were looking for that—which everyone should—and not doing what they should in the meantime. Paul wanted them to live a quiet life, mind their own business, and to be self-supporting. It is not possible for some to support themselves, and the church fellowship should help them. All who are able, however, should not need that kind of support.
REFLECT
How are you doing with these three instructions Paul gave the Thessalonian believers? These are part of being a testimony to unbelievers.
RESPOND
Talk with your disciple about these three instructions Paul gave. Are both of you doing what you can in seeking to fulfill these goals in your life?
