READ
1 Thessalonians 4:18
18 So encourage each other with these words.
This short verse is full of meaning. Paul wrote in verse 13 he did not want the Thessalonian believers grieving as others who have no hope. Now, after telling about believers being caught up to be with Jesus, Paul said they should “encourage each other with these words.” This passage is not encouraging to any who are not believers, but it is full of comfort for those who have had believing loved ones pass away.
REFLECT
When looking for comfort after the death of a believing loved one, go to 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. Rejoice in the comfort this passage offers.
RESPOND
For those not sure of salvation, urge them to read John 3:16 and 1 John 5:11-13. People can know for sure whether they have believed in Jesus or not. Pray that friends will trust in Jesus as Savior before it is eternally too late.
