READ
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15
14 Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.
15 See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.
Paul told the Thessalonian believers to give warnings to lazy ones, encourage the timid, take tender care of the weak, and to be patient with everyone. In addition, he wanted them to see that no one was paying back evil for evil, and wanted them to do good to “each other and to all people.” Present-day believers are not under the Mosaic law, but there are several commands in the New Testament. J. Vernon McGee says there are 22 commandments in 1 Thessalonians 5:11-27.
REFLECT
Make your own list of what Paul wrote in today’s reading and think about how you are doing in each area.
RESPOND
With your friend, read 1 Peter 3:8-10 to see that the apostle Peter urged his readers to do many of the same things as did the apostle Paul.
