READ
1 Timothy 6:9-10
9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
Wealth in itself is not wrong, but it should not be what one craves after and trusts in. Some godly people are wealthy and use their wealth to support causes that spread the gospel to the world. It is not so much how much a person has, but what he does with what he has. Some who have little money can crave it as much or more than a person who has it. The craving to be rich can lead a person in the wrong direction spiritually.
REFLECT
What is your attitude toward earthly possessions? Do they draw your attention away from the treasures you have in Jesus?
RESPOND
Read Matthew 6:24 to see you can only serve one master at a time. In addition to what this verse says about money, it has been known to turn some away from organizations that do not honor the Lord Jesus.
