READ
1 Timothy 6:13-14
13 And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
Paul gave a solemn charge to Timothy. It was a charge given “before God, who gives life to all, and before Jesus Christ who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate,” Nothing could be more serious. Paul wanted Timothy to obey his command “without wavering.” Timothy was not perfect, but Paul wanted him to live without fault before others. In 1 Timothy 3:2 Paul told Timothy that church leaders must be “above reproach.” This indicates that if there has been any wrongdoing it has been confessed and made right with other parties.
REFLECT
Have you followed this pattern of admitting when you have done wrong and making it right with others? That is a way to be “above reproach” and without fault before others.
RESPOND
With a Christian friend, read what the psalmist David pledged to the Lord in Psalm 101:1-5. Although living in a different era now, apply the thoughts of David’s comments to your life.
