READ
1 Timothy 6:17-18
17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others
As Timothy’s mentor, Paul had more instructions for him. Paul had mentioned about wealth earlier and now he returns to it. People’s trust needs to be in God who can always be counted on and not in the insecure riches of earth. Those who have extra resources should use them for doing good works. They should be concerned about sharing with others rather than selfishly acquiring more for themselves.
REFLECT
Are you able to share with others? Would you share more if you had more?
RESPOND
Read 2 Corinthians 8:9-15 for what Paul said about giving to help others. Notice that it has to do with what you have, not with what you do not have. If you are faithful with little, God may trust you with more.
