READ
1 Timothy 6:20
20 Timothy, guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge.
Paul continued to encourage his mentee, Timothy. Paul wanted him to guard what God had given to him and to avoid those things that would not bring him closer to God. This involved avoiding “foolish discussions” with those opposing him with “their so-called knowledge.” Comments not based on biblical values and truths end up being foolishness.
REFLECT
Have you had to avoid such discussions with some of your friends? Have you even had to avoid these friends because talking to them did not help you go closer to God but further away?
RESPOND
Read Proverbs 4:23-25 and talk with a friend about how to practice this in your life. Desire to be godly in all you do.
