READ
1 Timothy 2:6-7
6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. 7 And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.
Referring to Jesus Christ as the only mediator between God and man, Paul added about Jesus that He gave His life to purchase freedom for everyone. Paul also wrote that God gave the message to the world at the right time. Paul was pleased that he had been chosen as a preacher and an apostle to teach the message to the Gentiles. A preacher is one who proclaims; a teacher is one who explains. Both deal with the same body of truth.
REFLECT
If you have trusted in Jesus as Savior, you have experienced the freedom of which Paul wrote. Are you pleased with those you hear proclaiming and explaining the message of the Gospel?
RESPOND
With your disciple, read Galatians 4:4-7 to see another of Paul’s references to the “right time.” When Jesus was born into the world, the Greek language was a universal language in the Roman Empire. By the Lord inspiring the New Testament to be written in the common Greek of the day, it was able to be read by almost everyone.
