1 Timothy – Week 5 – Day 1

1 Timothy 3:10 

10 Before they are appointed as deacons, let them be closely examined. If they pass the test, then let them serve as deacons.  

This important verse can spare local churches heartache. Deacons are to be closely examined before they are asked to serve. Some groups can be so desperate to appoint someone to serve they do not know much about the person. That can cause problems in the future if they learn some things about the person they wish they had known before he was appointed. “If they pass the test, then let them serve as deacons.”

Do you know what the process is in your local fellowship for selecting deacons?

Talk with a fellow believer about the importance of being careful in the process of selecting leaders for your church. Look at 1 Timothy 5:22 about Paul’s caution concerning selecting church leaders.
