READ
1 Timothy 3:14-15
14 I am writing these things to you now, even though I hope to be with you soon, 15 so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.
Paul had told about overseers and deacons, now he focuses on individual believers and how they should live. Paul considered Timothy a shepherd of the flock committed to him and wanted him to know how people should act in the house of God. The “church” refers not to a building but to a group of believers in Jesus. It is the church “of the living God” and “pillar and foundation of the truth.” It is based on the apostles’ teaching recorded now in the Scriptures.
REFLECT
Think of how wonderful it is that the apostles’ teaching is available in the Bible today.
RESPOND
See Acts 2:42 for what believers did and followed in the days of the early church. Is your church following a similar pattern?
