READ
1 Timothy 4:3-5
3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. 5 For we know it is made acceptable by the word of God and prayer.
Paul continued to tell about those who teach things coming from demons. It even relates to domestic relationships and diets. The Jews had all kinds of dietary regulations and some Judaizers wanted to add these to believing in the Messiah Jesus to become right with God. Paul had been a Jewish Pharisee before his conversion so he had been obeying all of these regulations; now he says they no longer need to be followed.
REFLECT
How is it with you? Are you still trying to live by regulations in the Old Testament? God is now working with church-age believers, not under Old Testament regulations.
RESPOND
To see more of what Paul said about observing special days and diets, read Colossians 2:16-19. These regulations were just a shadow of things to come.
