1 Timothy – Week 7 – Day 5

READ 

1 Timothy 5:1-2 

1 Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. 2 Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters. 

How should a pastor treat those in his congregation? Paul told Timothy how. A pastor should treat others as he would his father, mother, brothers and sisters. Paul was concerned that a pastor treat younger women “with all purity as you would your own sisters.” Many pastors have failed in ministry for not following these instructions Paul gave Timothy. 

REFLECT 

Consider how important these instructions of Paul were for Timothy. As you pray for leaders in your church, remember to pray they will be able to follow these instructions.

Read 1 Timothy 2:1-3 to see that believers are to pray for all in authority. Especially notice why believers are to do this.
