READ
1 Timothy 5:14-15
14 So I advise these younger widows to marry again, have children, and take care of their own homes. Then the enemy will not be able to say anything against them. 15 For I am afraid that some of them have already gone astray and now follow Satan.
Paul continued with instructions about widows. He was particularly concerned about the younger ones having a good testimony. He had instructed about those who had been put on the church list for help and then let their physical desires overpower their spiritual desires. That is why he advised the church not to put younger widows on the list for support.
REFLECT
Does this point out to you how important it is to live a consistent testimony? This was Paul’s chief concern.
RESPOND
Talk with a friend from your church fellowship about the concern to do everything possible to help those who really need help but not to help those who do not need it.
