READ
1 Timothy 5:21
21 I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the highest angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.
Paul gave some instructions in this passage that might be hard for the believers in the church to follow. That would be true not only in the first century but also in the 21st century. In case some might be in doubt whether to follow these instructions or not, Paul gave this serious warning. These instructions are to be followed “without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.”
REFLECT
Think how difficult it might be in your church fellowship to follow these instructions without being partial to one side or the other.
RESPOND
See what James told his readers about showing favoritism by reading James 2:8-10. According to common Jewish count, there were 613 commandments. James says if you’ve broken one you’ve broken them all.
