READ
2 Peter 1:8-9
8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
Notice that the Christian life is a growth process. Spiritual maturity is not instantaneous. When growth occurs the believer is “more productive and useful” in the “knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Believers in Jesus who do not grow spiritually are blind to the fact that Jesus has cleansed them from their old sins.
REFLECT
How are you doing in your spiritual growth? Are you more knowledgeable now of the Bible and God’s promises?
RESPOND
Encourage another believer to read and heed the instructions in 2 Timothy 2:15. This can be a reminder of Proverbs 10:5 about one sleeping during harvest. Believers have a spiritual harvest around them; they dare not sleep through it.
