2 Peter 1:16-18
16 For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes 17 when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” 18 We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
Here Peter seems to be referring to what he, James and John saw on the Mount of Transfiguration. It was not a myth because they “saw” and heard the “voice” of God the Father about God the Son (see Matthew 17:1-9). This passage in Matthew 17 explains Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:28.
REFLECT
Bible deniers today call many things myths that are truths found in the Word of God. Believe the Bible; not them.
RESPOND
The apostle Paul predicted there would come a time when people would call the truths of the Word of God myths. See 2 Timothy 4:3-5 for this prediction and what to do about it.
